James Valatkas has over 30 years of financial and accounting experience. He started his career at CNA Insurance where he completed a financial management development program and then joined Roanoke when it was comprised of the broker entity (currently Roanoke Insurance Group Inc.) and Washington International Insurance Company.

Jim’s primary responsibilities include the preparation and reporting of financial information that is essential to managing the business. He also ensures the company is in compliance with all taxing authorities and he coordinates all financial audits. Jim sits on the board of directors of the Munich Re Specialty Group N.A., Inc., Roanoke Insurance Group Inc. and Munich Re Specialty Group Insurance Services, Inc. He also heads the IT department which includes IT Support Services, Business Solutions and IT Governance and Data Security.

Jim received his BS in Accounting from Illinois State University and is a certified public accountant. During his 25 plus years at Roanoke, Jim has held various positions – the first as senior tax accountant followed by accounting manager and subsequently controller.

Roanoke Insurance Group Inc., a division of Munich Re Specialty Group North America Inc., is a retail and wholesale broker representing several top-rated insurance carriers. It is also a Lloyd’s of London cover holder for Munich Re Syndicate Limited and Managing General Underwriter for American Alternative Insurance Corporation. Roanoke focuses
on various insurance and surety bond products and services for companies involved in transportation, logistics or shipping whether digital or traditional.
